Eye Examinations and Health Checks

An eye examination involves several tests to evaluate your overall eye health and evaluate your vision.

At Elite Eyewear, we believe our eyes are our most precious commodity, and as such, we need to keep them at optimum health. We aim to ensure your eyes and your vision are performing at their best to support your lifestyle. The eye test results will allow us to provide you with personalised advice on how best to support your visual needs.

We encourage everyone to have an eye test with a qualified optometrist at least once every two years. A routine eye test will take approximately 30 minutes and is covered by Medicare.

During your eye exam, some of the things we look for include:

  • General Eye Health
  • Clarity of Vision
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Colour Vision
  • Eye Muscle control
  • Glaucoma
  • Cataract
  • Children’s eye examinations

After the examination, we will explain the results and discuss any recommendations regarding your eye care.

Macular Degeneration Assessments

Macular degeneration is the most common reason for loss of vision for the elderly.

As we get older, the macula can begin to degenerate resulting in poor, less clear vision. We recommend having a macular degeneration assessment when you reach your sixties. This will allow us to detect any changes earlier and open up more treatment options.

Some symptoms of macular degeneration may include

  • Your vision becoming less sharp
  • Unable to adjust to the dark as well as you used to
  • Words looking blurry when reading
  • Colours not being as clear as they once were

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry eye is a common condition that occurs when your tear ducts cannot provide enough lubrication for your eyes.

Dry eyes are caused by the lack of lubrication in the eye, leaving the eye’s primary lens (cornea) with an inadequate tear film. This can occur when the eye does not produce enough tears or if those tears have a chemical composition that causes them to evaporate too quickly.

Dry Eye Symptoms can include the following:

  • Irritated or Itchy Eyes
  • Sore Eyes
  • Inflamed Eyelids
  • Watery eyes
